El CID Core Testing Services
Prevent Costly Failures with Proven Low-Flux Core Inspection
At Continental Electrical Motor Services, we now offer El CID (Core Impedance Detection) testing as part of our advanced diagnostic toolkit—enabling accurate detection of interlamination faults in stator cores without the need for high-power testing.
This non-destructive method is ideal for inspecting large motors and generators safely and efficiently, even during planned outages or maintenance windows.
What is El CID Testing?

El CID is a low-flux stator core test that identifies shorted laminations in a machine’s core iron. These faults, if left unchecked, can lead to overheating, electrical failure, or costly unplanned downtime.
Using a fraction of the magnetizing current required for traditional ring flux tests, El CID allows us to inspect your core with minimal disruption—and with the same accuracy trusted by OEMs and utilities worldwide.
Why Choose El CID Testing?
Low-Impact, High-Precision
Requires only 4% of the rated flux—safe for personnel and equipmentDetects Early-Stage Faults
Identifies interlamination shorts before they become major issuesFast Setup & Results
Efficient testing and on-site reporting to support critical decisionsIdeal for High-Value Equipment
Best suited for large motors and generators in utility, industrial, and processing environments
Certified Technicians. Trusted Results.
Our field service team, including recently certified specialist Tito Saliring, is trained and equipped to perform El CID testing across Western Canada. Whether during a planned shutdown or as part of a predictive maintenance program, we’ll help you make informed decisions that reduce risk and extend equipment life.
