Industrial motor and Generator Repair & Rewind Services
At Continental, we focus on keeping your operation running by providing complete repair and rewind services for all types of industrial electric motors and generators. From AC and DC to vertical, crusher duty, and explosion-proof models, we’ve got you covered. We also handle magnet rewinds, armature and generator rewinds, and even specialized Grid Blower Motor repairs—so no matter the challenge, we have the expertise to deliver.
In addition, we’re equipped to service equipment up to 30,000 HP and 13.8kV with unmatched precision and care. Our advanced facilities feature everything from 600 Amp DC testing (0–750V) to dynamic balancing up to 10 tons, along with a 1000 kVA test panel for high-voltage AC equipment. This means you can count on us to handle even your most demanding repairs with confidence.
What truly sets us apart, however, is our commitment to long-term reliability. We use a Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) process with 478 epoxy to give your equipment superior insulation and lasting performance. Combined with our strict quality controls and open communication, you can trust Continental to restore your critical equipment quickly, reliably, and with minimal disruption to your business.
When Repair Doesn’t Make Sense
- Repair costs approach 70% or more of a new motor
- Lead time for repair equals or exceeds new-motor delivery
- Motor has an unknown service history or multiple past failures
- It’s a general-purpose, commodity-frame motor
- Application downtime cost is higher than the repair savings
“Our goal isn’t to sell you the most expensive option — it’s to help you make the best lifecycle decision for your equipment.”
A Simple Rule of Thumb
Under 100HP?
- If repair ≥ 70% of replacement cost → Replace
- If replacement is in stock or available quickly → Replace
- If motor is special / OEM / explosion-proof → Evaluate Repair
Over 100HP?
👉 Repair is often more economical — evaluation recommended
Why Replacement Is Often the Better Business Decision
- Faster return to service
- Full factory warranty
- Latest energy-efficiency standards
- Reduced risk of repeat failure
- Lower lifetime operating cost
Exceptions — When Repair Is Worthwhile
- Custom or obsolete frames
- OEM-engineered motors
- Hazardous-location or specialty motors
- Large HP motors, where replacement costs and lead times are high
- Motors integrated into critical systems
